Meet the founder

Welcome, I’m Eva

As a formally trained designer and romanticizer of all things, my methodologies are a perfect marriage between strategic choices and intuition. The result, a brand aesthetic that feels authentically you and yields results. I listen intently and work meticulously to create a brand that you feel confident in and comfortable using, whether we continue collaborating or you’re expanding your brand on your own.

In my early days as a designer searching for my place in Metro-Detroit design field, I saw a lack of representation for women and LGBTQIA+ community in graphic design and branding. That's why I created Odd Poppy Brand Co. Now I spend my days working with incredible people all across the U.S. on their brands. By night, I’m an adjunct professor for the Wayne State University Graphic Design program.

We are boundless in our pursuits to create your beautiful brand, together.

My clients trust me with their brands because I listen. I insist on getting to know you and your business inside and out so we can create a brand that feels like you and brings you more clients.

Our most frequent feedback (and highest compliment) is how we always nail the vibe because I spend time understanding you and your business before ever putting pen to paper.

Our Team

We're woman owned, working with the best creatives in Metro-Detroit. Whenever possible we like to bring in other experts who are masters of their craft to work with us and our clients brands.

Collaborating other creative professionals means that we can find the perfect fit for your project and produce the best possible work. Odd Poppy is currently looking for a writer who specializes content writing and brand writing to work with on a project-by-project basis. If you are, or know someone is an amazing writer, contact eva@oddpoppybrand.co

Behind the brand

What’s in a name?

In almost every discovery meeting we get asked “how did you come up with your business name?” This is that story.

Poppies have always held a lot of significance to me throughout my life, to the point where I’m always getting gifts with poppies on them (mugs, tea towels, lip balms, you name it!). I love them for they way they look, the lemon poppy-seed muffins and cakes they contribute their seeds to, and a few more sentimental reasons.

Poland is hugely significant to me, not only because it’s part of my heritage, but I grew up in Hamtramck which has a large Polish population. I spent most of my days in neighbors houses, eating curries and chruściki, learning Bengali and Polish. My mom made it a point to expose my sister and I to all kinds of cultures, sending us to neighbors houses to participate in different holiday and birthday traditions. In short, it was really really special to grow up in an extremely culturally diverse neighborhood. Most of the time I was the only non-immigrant in any given room, and sometimes the only white person. And our neighbors welcomed me (and my family) with open arms, as if we were their own.

Another huge influence in my childhood was The Wizard of Oz. My sister was obsessed with it and she made it her whole personality from ages 4-6. We watched that movie nearly every day, and like clock-work, when the Wicked Witch of the West came on screen for the first time, Lanie would run and hide behind the La-Z-Boy, cautiously peering at the TV waiting until the coast was clear. That girl wore her Dorothy halloween costume everywhere, to the grocery store, the mall, we have multiple years worth of photos of her with the Easter Bunny and Santa in her Dorothy costume.

In short: We get our name from the national flower of Poland, secret weapon of the Wicked Witch of The West, and the often misunderstood, misrepresented flower, the Poppy.

We serve as the destination for all those that have felt like they're the black sheep, odd one out, or anyone destined for the isle of misfit toys.
